Parsonages

It is very important that everyone involved in the whole issue of parsonages know that the action taken at conference (Petition 18), as printed, contains one error.

In item 5 at the beginning of the petition, the petition says, "...appointed for the 2006-07 conference year will negotiate..." That date is not correct. It should read, "...appointed for the 2007-08 conference year will negotiate..."

This was clarified during one of the sessions of conference, but I'm hearing that a ton of people missed it.

Please advise those who need to know, particularly pastors who are vacating parsonages and whose committees are on the verge of selling everything out from under the incoming pastors!

School of Congregational Development

We are excited about this year's School of Congregational Development which will be held on August 2 - 7, 2007 at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.  This year we have added some new tracks and I wanted to be sure that you were aware of the opportunities to encourage pastors and leaders to attend who might benefit from this training. Along with the tracks we offer for new church development and turning around congregations we are offering these new tracks:

Developing a multi-site congregation:                         Greg Ligon & Duane Anders

One of the hot strategies is developing mulit-site congregations.  Learn the keys for developing multi-site campuses and congregations.  Participants interested in this topic can also see The Church of the Resurrection's new second  campus and learn about the strategies they employed for its launch.

Ministry of the Executive Pastor:                                     Dan Enwistle and Rob Huckabee

If you have large churches in your district with staff who have responsibility for administration and strategic planning, this is an excellent opportunity to learn from two of the best.  Dan is at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection and Rob is at Brentwood UMC in Brentwood, TN. Designed for those who serve in executive leadership roles in large churches and growing churches, you will learn keys strategies for staff management, ministry development, and strategic planning.

Worship Leadership:                                                            Stacy Hood & Ronda Kingwood

This track specially designed for worship leaders and worship teams will give you the tools you need to create worship experiences that tap into all the arts from music, dramas, liturgy, and multi-media.  Learn how to create theme based worship that captures the hearts of those who long to be touched by God's grace.

Leading Beyond the Walls:                                                Adam Hamilton

Designed for pastors of high potential churches, participants will be taught the principles, strategies and tactics that  led The Church of the Resurrection to grow to over 10,000 people today.  Learn about leadership, marketing and outreach, preaching that connects with non-religious people, and developing high-expectation churches.
