The Salisbury District exists to give support to the 64 churches
in the district, as they fulfill their mission to make disciples
of Jesus Christ. In 2004-2005, pastors participated in small
groups, attended training in mediation and conflict management
training, attended a workshop to increase leadership skills,
and led their congregations in developing visions for ministry
in 2005. Lay people were encouraged to attend the 2005 annual
district leadership conference, as well as training in Safe Sanctuaries
and lay speaking.
Churches in the district also work together in ministry and
mission, whenever they can accomplish more together than they
could accomplish as individual congregations. In January 2004,
the Unemployment Response Ministry was started to assist churches
in their ministry with unemployed individuals and families in
Rowan and Cabarrus counties. District churches are also supporting
with volunteer and financial support the district’s outreach
ministry to Spanish-speaking people in Concord and Salisbury.
